A Florida ex-Police Chief will answer to allegations of framing black men within his jurisdiction for crimes they didn’t commit.
The Miami Herald reports that Raimundo Atesiano pleaded guilty to a conspiracy charge of depriving the three suspects of their civil rights because he and the officers framed them. The court declined to add race as a factor in the charges.
If convicted of conspiracy, Atesiano faces up to 10 years in prison. Two other rights violations carrying up to one year each will be dismissed.
