Lissa Davis, the sister of former NBA star Baron Davis, is suing her brother. She claims he committed fraud and intentionally caused her emotional distress. And judging by the allegations, this family reunion is going to need a courtroom instead of a dinner table.
According to reports, Lissa claims Baron helped purchase a house for her. Sounds generous, right? Well, apparently, the story did not end with a happy family photo and a set of keys.
Lissa alleges that the home was later sold without warning. Yes, sold.
No dramatic family meeting, no friendly heads-up and not even a “Hey, you might want to pack your stuff.” At least, that is the picture painted by the lawsuit.
Lissa is now taking legal action against her former NBA star brother. She is accusing him of fraud and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
And honestly, nothing says “we need to talk” quite like being served with a lawsuit.
Lissa says in the suit that she had a “life-threatening” health issue after the birth of her son back in 2008 … and asked Baron for help with money.
She claims Baron convinced her to sell her Northridge, CA home because he was going to buy her a new one through his realtors. Lissa alleges Baron asked to keep the title in his name for “tax purposes.”
Lissa says she then found a different home in Northridge that she sunk all of her savings into fixing up with her husband.
Fast forward to this January … she claims she found out from a third-party realtor that Baron was selling the house … and she claims he never said a word to her about it.
This is one family dispute that has clearly gone far beyond a simple disagreement.
Most siblings argue about who ate the last slice of pizza. Others fight over old childhood memories. The Davis family drama, if the allegations are accurate, apparently involves real estate and a courtroom.
That is a serious upgrade in family conflict.
Now, Lissa wants the court to address her claims against her brother. Baron, meanwhile, will have to deal with the allegations and whatever comes next in the legal process.
