How Bill Cosby Being A Predator Led To Geoffrey Owens Working At Trader Joe’s

Geoffrey Owens was a star on The Cosby Show and has been making headlines lately for working at Trader Joe’s in New Jersey. The attacks have been unfortunate as he is simply a working man who is still putting food on the table and providing for his family. Since then though, Tyler Perry has given Owens a role in 10 episodes in the series The Haves and The Have Nots.

According to People, The Cosby Show not being released on syndication anymore due to Bill Cosby’s sexual assault scanals are what contributed to Owens ending up taking a position at Trader Joe’s. The checks stopped coming in and he had to make ends meet.

“Yes, it impacted me financially,’ said Owens to People. “At the time that the show was pulled, that did make a difference in our income. That was one of the elements that led to my getting to the place where I said to myself, ‘I have to do something’ and I was thinking, ‘What can I do?’ and the answer ended up being Trader Joe’s, which is actually a wonderful situation for me in many ways. But I got to the point, I just had to do something to support myself and my family.”

Owens did admit that the situation was humiliating. He hated the way he was portrayed in the photo that was taken of him and what was being said about him was demeaning. Regardless of what happened, Owens is the definition of hard work and making sure that himself and his family are taken care of. It all eventually paid off with the opportunity to star in this Tyler Perry series.
