For years fans of Lil Wayne assumed his self inflicted gun shot wound was just that, but XXLMag.com has confirmed that is not the case. With buzz for his long awaited release of The Carter V Wayne reveals new details about the wound.
The upcoming song was reportedly on the original Carter V tracklist but following the suicides of designer Kate Spade and chef Anthony Bourdain earlier this year, Weezy added new lyrics this summer.
Wayne has started to open up about the incident in the past, rapping on Solange’s song “Mad.” “And when I attempted suicide, I didn’t die/I remember how mad I was that day/Man, you gotta let it go before it get all up in the way,” he raps. This is, however, the first time he’s revealed the reason for attempting suicide.
With the recent suicides of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain, Wayne felt it was time to open up about his incident. Fortunately for Wayne fans, that was one of the things he was unsuccessful at. The Carter 5 drops September 21st.
