A police officer in Moorhead, Minnesota is facing felony assault charges after severely injuring a woman’s face who was already handcuffed, according to the Twin Cities Pioneer Press. The woman at the hands of the injuries was 47-year-old Jennifer Joan Thomas.
The incident stemmed from Thomas threatening to kill herself with a BB gun at a Buffalo Wild Wings. Officers took her into custody and one made the claim that she spat in their face while trying to put her seat belt on. Lambert hit Thomas in the face with his elbow, according to court documents. Injuries sustained were a a fractured nasal bone and a bruise to the right eye. Lambert also tackled Thomas at her hospital bed where she hit her face on part of the bed.
Police are now trying to charge Thomas with fourth-degree assault on a peace officer, threats of violence, and carrying a BB gun in a public place. Lambert will appear in court too though on November 2 for the charges handed against him in the assault on Thomas.
