The Philadelphia 76ers and last year’s number one overall pick Markelle Fultz appear to be nearing a split after a bizarre series of events with Fultz’s shoulder and shooting form has taken place over the past two years.
Fultz is currently away from the team as his lawyers have told the Sixers front office Fultz’s won’t play until he sees a shoulder specialist. The Sixers according to the Philadelphia Enquirer are ready to trade Fultz as they don’t see him as part of their long term plans.
Fultz is no longer in the Sixers’ long-term plans. And they are no longer using his shoulder as an excuse for his performances.
This has been a strange scenario for a player who was an All American at the high school and college level. As of now there’s no clear sign as to what could be causing him to lose confidence in his talents that has severely affected his shooting form.
Teams that could take a chance on him as their point guard could be the Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns, and possibly the New Orleans Pelicans. They all have a need at point guard as their starting point guards leave a lot to be desired or their floor general is injury prone. We’ll see how the Sixers and their new GM Elton Brand plan to unload Fultz.
