Erica Mena got engaged to Safaree on Christmas Eve and many wonder why it happened so fast. They’ve been dating for a short time now with their most publicized appearance together being at a Nets game. Many feel that at this point, it’s for publicity and to compete with Mena’s ex-girlfriend, Cyn Santana.
Santana also got engaged this month to Joe Budden. Where the accusations of Mena’s engagement being fake come from is the suspicion that she wants this relationship publicized on reality TV, specifically Love and Hip-Hop to compete with Santana. Mena is shutting all of that down and took to Twitter to bring up a good point of why the criticism is invalid. She isn’t even on Love and Hip-Hop so competing with Budden and Santana can’t really happen.
It’s really a joke how folks got nerve to say I’m trying to be like X , Y and Z…… How? I’ve done everything I’ve ever wanted to do before turning 23 years old. Down to the music. Stop comparing me and just let me continue being great.

Safaree hasn’t been known to try to settle down with women either so if this engagement is real, then there’s no competition really being made with Budden and Santana. Regardless though, don’t be surprised to see Safaree and Mena publicize this engagement on a different reality show such as their own.
