Over the last four games, Josh Allen is averaging 117 yards a game rushing. Those stats are better than any running back in the league.
Allen’s running skills have kept the Bills competitive in games. This is fine for now, but at some point just like with all quarterbacks, he is going to have to learn to throw the ball accurately.
Beyond Baker Mayfield, all the rookie quarterbacks have struggled throwing the ball. The issue with Allen is that he has never been an accurate quarterback at any level, so can he be in the NFL?
While Rosen, Darnold, and Jackson all have shown the ability to be accurate, Allen has not. The Bills similar to the Ravens have been smart to play to Allen’s strengths, no QB in the recent history of the NFL with tremendous athletic ability have succeeded long-term without learning to be a somewhat accurate passer. Even Michael Vick later in his career figured this out.
Allen’s freestyling is ok for now, but he is going to have to buckle down in the offseason, and the Bills will have to tailor an offense that can make him as comfortable as possible.
