The Warriors were completely dominant over LeBron James’ Cavaliers in the past two NBA Finals. Golden State’s Klay Thompson made sure that was clear after being reminded of the Cavs’ 2016 Halloween party which clowned the Warriors after beating them after coming back from a 3-1 deficit. Tombstone cookies were also made out of Thompson and Steph Curry with “3-1 lead” being posted everywhere.
“Oh, yeah. Ha!” Thompson said to Anthony Slater of The Athletic. “That was funny. Look how that turned out. Psssh. Bums. That was crazy. I forgot about that. Well, look at what pettiness gets you. Gets you 1-8 in the Finals. Idiots.”
That 1-8 could very well have been 2-8 if J.R. Smith’s mistake didn’t happen at the end of Game 1 of the 2018 Finals. Since James left the Cavs for the Lakers in free agency this summer, everything’s gone downhill. Smith doesn’t want to play for them anymore, Kevin Love is out for a while after undergoing toe surgery, and the team stands at a dismal 5-18 record.
