The Cleveland Browns turned it around this season and won back their fans trust after being winless last season to a 7-8-1 record this year. With the addition of several star rookies, the Browns are heading in the right direction.
With next season, Browns general manager John Dorsey expects more from his rookies including quarterback Baker Mayfield.
“You want to see him develop,” Dorsey said via ClevelandBrowns.com. “..just develop, mature, be that leader moving forward that I expect him to be.”
Baker’s good friend, rookie cornerback Denzel Ward, believes the Browns are heading in right direction with the new coaching staff Dorsey gave them.
“We’re gonna get a lot more wins,” Ward said about next season at the Pro Bowl Community Day event. The Browns won more games this season versus the last so I asked the 21-year old cornerback what prepared him before each game to get those wins and he said, depending on his mood it’s music like Lil Baby or Drake.
Even though he’s a Drake fan, he wasn’t too familiar with the Drake curse so we discussed the effect it’s having on the Kentucky Wildcats, Toronto Raptors and the Alabama Crimson Tide. After that being said and his goals of winning more games next season, I asked would he mind if Drake wore his jersey with the curse in mind.
“He ain’t got that much power,” he laughed. “Anybody can wear what they wanna wear.”
Ward goes on and says he doesn’t believe that it’s a curse.
“It’s just coincidences.”
Ward had a great rookie season and was named Defensive Rookie of the Week twice this season. If Drake receives this message and decides to wear a Browns jersey, hopefully with Ward’s optimistic attitude and skils, the Browns can break that curse. If they start losing, is that the curse or just Browns being the Browns again?
