R Kelly is 52-years-old.
From his early 20s, he has been a predator of young women, and it was known to almost everyone. There are specific people who could have put an end to his terror long ago but didn’t.
There are parents and family members who knew what type of man that R Kelly was but still allowed their underage daughters to be with him.
R Kelly’s inner circle has been involved in the recruitment of underage women also from the start.
The reason why none of these people tried to stop R Kelly is simple.
MONEY & FAME.
The money kept many quiet and the prospect of fame had parents and family members willing to sacrifice their daughters, nieces, and cousins to Kelly.
Now, that there is no money and R Kelly can no longer make anyone famous (just infamous, ask the woman who put up his bail) they are all turning on him after 30 years. R Kelly is the worst, but they aren’t much better.
Kelly is looking at the possibility of decades in prison if convicted, but there’s no official word on whether the manager or anyone else in his inner circle might face charges for complicity in any abuse or for failing to report abuse if they suspected it.
Legal experts say it’s not obvious what laws could be invoked.
All 50 states require that certain professionals, including doctors and teachers, report any suspicions of child abuse, but only around a third mandate that all adults do. Kelly’s home state of Illinois is not among them.
In a phone interview, he said Kelly depended heavily on others to target underage girls, to transport them and to pay them off to keep quiet over the years he ascended from busking on Chicago subway platforms to become a best-selling music artist.
Kelly “could not have accomplished this for 28 years without the assistance of others who looked the other way because they didn’t want the R. Kelly gravy train to end,” Avenatti said Tuesday.
I remember watching the R Kelly doc and seeing parents say they knew who R Kelly was but thought it would be ok to let their 17-year-old daughter live in Chicago with him, but now they regret it. That is just sick, and they should be thrown in jail with Kelly, but that won’t happen.
At least 50 people and probably more allowed this to happen. There were family members in possession of sex tapes of Kelly with their underage nieces that they held on to for 20 years because they were blackmailing Kelly. Once again that is just sick.
