Redskins cornerback Josh Norman says the Los Angeles Rams got lucky because, had QB Alex Smith not suffered a horrible injury, it’d be Washington in the Super Bowl and not the Rams. The Redskins were in 1st place in the NFC East at the time until Smith broke both his fibula and tibia in his right leg against the Texans in November.
Smith was replaced by Colt McCoy (who also got injured), who was then followed by Mark Sanchez (who was terrible), who was then followed by Josh Johnson (who was basically signed off the street). TMZ ran into Norman in Atlanta on Wednesday and they asked what would’ve happened if Smith wouldn’t have cracked his leg open.
In the video, Norman looks like he’s dead serious, and even after he was asked several times, he doesn’t relent, and actually doubles down on his championship claim, saying they could’ve gotten by both the Rams AND Saints.
Washington was pretty solid before Smith’s injury, but beating the top two teams in the NFC to make the Super Bowl? I think Josh is the only person that would think his team would win those games.
