Ex-Baylor DE Shawn Oakman was recently acquitted of raping an ex-girlfriend after leaving a bar. The jury only took 45 minutes to deliver a verdict after there was overwhelming evidence in his favor.
DNA that suggested that sex with consensual, several witnesses who were at the scene that knew both Oakman and his accuser testified under oath no rape happened, the accuser changing her story several times and many deleted text messages were recovered from the accuser after Oakman had been charged that likely would have exonerating him from the beginning if they wouldn’t have been deleted.
Oakman lost three years of his life and his NFL career (the arrest came two weeks before the draft). He lost millions of dollars, but now he is hoping that he at least gets a chance.
“I think God will set the right path for me but I don’t feel like I have to beg for anything, it’s not a begging matter. I don’t want anybody to hand me anything. I want to earn it and everything I get. I want to play football at the highest level and just really finally get my chance,” Oakman told KWTX.
The question begs will someone give him an opportunity?
I hope the answer is yes to that.
