1- BE ON TIME
This is not a movie you want to be late to because what happens in the first part of the movie is shocking and critical to understanding what happens in the rest of the movie. I was not expecting what happened at the beginning and that is when I knew it was going to be a wild ride.
2- YOU WILL CRY
If you have any emotional attachment to the MCU, there will be at least 5-6 moments you are likely going to get choked up. Some people were openly sobbing at multiple points in the movie. This starts at the beginning and all the way to the final scene, it was an emotionally draining experience.
3- YOU WILL LAUGH
Something that the Russo brothers are so good at is finding ways in these very heavy movies to find some humor. There are several laugh out loud moments. One, in particular, I can guarantee you won’t be expecting and will be an ongoing gag throughout the movie.
4- BACK TO THE FUTURE & BOYZ IN THE HOOD
Those two movies couldn’t be any more different, but in ENDGAME they are perfectly blended together. There are multiple references to both movies. More obvious with Back to the Future and more subtle with Boyz in The Hood. The central theme I felt with both is how some of the Avengers are just trying to survive the environment they are in post-snap while others are willing to do all they can to reverse it. The interesting thing is that even if you do make changes in real time like in Boyz in The Hood or past like Back to The Future, nothing is the same. Some good things happened, but some very bad things happen in the quest of trying to take control of your past, present and future.
5- SURPRISES AND PLOT TWISTS
Marvel did a pretty good job of keeping the plot leaks to a minimum, while there are several things people have figured out from trailers and toys, most of the excellent stuff you will have no idea about until it is happening.
There are so many things that I had no idea was going to happen and that made the movie so much more enjoyable and I can’t wait to talk about them with all of you once you see the movie.
6- PROBLEMS?
The only two issues with the movie are some continuity issues that aren’t clearly explained. There are two that stand out, but they aren’t so bad that it takes away from the movie and many might not even notice. There is a little confusion on some of the reasons how all of this works that go beyond just suspending your disbelief and one thing that seems almost impossible to explain. It is quite possible these some issues will be addressed in the last movie of phase four Spider-Man “Far From Home.”
In the end, it is a fitting ending to a 22 film saga, and I can guarantee you those final scenes (including the very final scene) will have an Infinity Stone size lump in your throat.
It isn’t a perfect movie, but it is the perfect ending to this saga, I give it 4.5 out of 5 Dollarnaire stars.
As Raekwon raps at the end of the song “Triumph” when the Endgame is over, it will undoubtedly have you jumping like Rod Strickland…..
