Professional boxer Danny Garcia has been in the ring with Amir Khan but has yet to test Terence Crawford. Even though he’s focused on his fight against Adrian Granados, he had some insight on the Crawford-Khan match being held at Madison Square Garden tonight.
“I think Terence Crawford has more momentum going into the fight than Khan,” Garcia said, “but I honestly believe it’s a 50-50 fight.”
Crawford is a southpaw which can be difficult for some boxers. Garcia says Khan shouldn’t have a problem.
“People are only interested in how long Khan’s gonna last, because he obviously can’t take a good punch. This is not a secret. But he’s good at fighting southpaws.”
Garcia won the 140-pound unification title on July 2012 against Khan where the fight was called it after Khan was knocked down down three times, twice in the fourth. Despite his win, Garcia says Khan is a fast opponent who shouldn’t be taken slightly.
“I think it’s a great matchup because Khan is not an easy style to prepare for,” Garcia said. “You know, he has fast hands, he has quick feet. So, it’s definitely gonna be an entertaining fight. Terence Crawford’s not really a pressure fighter, to try to knock you out with one punch. He’ll try to break you down and take you out of there late. So, I think that it’s definitely an interesting matchup.”
Garcia was offered $4 million to fight Crawford but Garcia never responded. If Crawford wins tonight, maybe he’ll react but according to Garcia, he will fight anybody if the “money’s right”.
