The honors keep coming for the late rapper Nipsey Hussle.
This one? An intersection in Los Angeles will be named after him according to Los Angeles councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson.
The councilman had this to say about the honor given to Nipsey Hussle.
“Nipsey’s genuine nature allowed him to be a light to everyone he interacted with from family, friends, fans, and his larger community. As a father, brother, and son, Nipsey was a rock helping to build an empire that will continue through generations,” he continued. “Nipsey will always be remembered for delivering a pure, authentic Los Angeles sound, his numerous philanthropic efforts, his innovative, community-focused business mindset, and his humble heart.”
As for the name of the intersection?
The Marathon, which was located at the intersection of Slauson Avenue and Crenshaw Boulevard — which will soon bear the named Ermias “Nipsey Hussle” Asghedom Square.
It shouldn’t take long for the change to become official either based on what the city council is going to do detailed below.
The name change will reportedly be announced at a City Council meeting this week, which will adjourn by entering Nipsey’s contributions into the city’s public record.
I think it’s great the city of Los Angeles is taking an effort to honor Hussle. He wasn’t just a rapper, he was a business man, a mentor, a role model, and beam of light for his community. I know how hard it is to bring a community like that together simply because I’ve lived in a neighborhood like that.
Rest in peace to Nipsey Hussle and condolences to his loved ones left behind.
