11. Cincinnati Bengals: QB, Dwayne Haskins, Ohio State
The Bengals are in a peculiar spot. Zac Taylor was inserted as the new head coach and Andy Dalton just hasn’t cut it. They take Haskins here and place him behind Dalton for a year or who knows, maybe even start.
12. Green Bay Packers: Noah Fant, TE, Iowa
The Packers aren’t in need of edge rusher help after the signings of Preston Smith and Za’Darius Smith in free agency. So they opt to take Noah Fant here at 12 and provide Aaron Rodgers with another weapon. New head coach Matt LaFleur is in love with 2 tight end sets and running plenty play action out of them. Sounds like a match to me.
13. Miami Dolphins: Montez Sweat, EDGE, Mississippi State
The Dolphins could look to take a quarterback here, but the tank squad would rather get a quarterback from next year’s crop of quarterbacks. Sweat is a dynamic edge rusher who has the potential to be a force in the league for a long time. How can you say no to that?
14. Atlanta Falcons: Ed Oliver, IDL, Houston
The Falcons are coming off a season in which their defense was plagued with injuries. To make matters even worse, their defense still isn’t good even when healthy. So why not add a dominant interior defensive lineman to make life better for your defense?
15. Washington Redskins: Drew Lock, QB, Missouri
The Redskins are in a weird spot right now. Alex Smith is most likely going to miss the 2019 season with the gruesome leg injury he suffered against the Texans and Case Keenum isn’t going to be your long term answer. So they take Drew Lock here to the face of the franchise and figure out Alex Smith’s situation later on down the road.
16. Carolina Panthers: Andre Dillard, OT, Washington State
The Panthers are pretty much middling the road here. Cam Newton is coming off shoulder surgery and the defense isn’t the same defense it used to be. They could take a player like Clelin Ferrell or Brian Burns to solidify their defense, but protecting Cam has to be the first priority.
17. New York Giants(from CLE): Daniel Jones, QB, Duke
The Giants passed on Haskins for defensive talent at 6, but here they get their quarterback in Daniel Jones. Jones hasn’t gotten the best reviews from scouts since the Senior Bowl, but the Giants take him anyways at 17.
18. Minnesota Vikings: Jonah Williams, iOL/OT, Alabama
The Vikings have been ignoring needs on their offensive line for far too long. They stop that ignorance right here with the addition of Jonah Williams. Williams would step inside and play guard or can even step out to play tackle while providing much needed protection for quarterback Kirk Cousins.
19. Tennessee Titans: Brian Burns, EDGE, Florida State
The Titans signed Cam Wake earlier this offseason, but he isn’t a long term running mate next to Harold Landry. Burns is perfect for a 3-4 OLB and should fit in nicely on a rising Tennessee Titans defense.
20. Pittsburgh Steelers: Greedy Williams, CB, LSU
The Steelers defense is still not even close to being respectable. Their linebackers are slow, their pass rush is a problem, and their secondary is still not up to standards. Adding Greedy Williams out of LSU fixes your secondary problem for the most part and allows the Steelers to plug more holes on that defense.
21. Seattle Seahawks: Chris Lindstrom, OL, Boston College
The Seahawks still have a large need for offensive lineman. They select Chris Lindstrom out of Boston College to fill one of those needs. Lindstrom will slide inside to play guard and hopefully keep Russell Wilson upright for some time. The Seahawks could dangle Frank Clark for more draft picks, but the price for Clark seems too expensive for most teams…..unlike the Oakland Raiders maybe hmm?
