Kris Porzingis is a member of the Dallas Mavericks.
His former team, the New York Knicks, moved on from the All-Star forward this past January in a blockbuster trade that sent him to Dallas.
Knicks President Steve Mills opened up about the trade and how it went down during a speaking event on Wednesday.
Mills claims that Porzingis demanded a trade from the Knicks as Porzingis told him and the organization,
“‘I don’t want to be here. I’m not going to re-sign with the Knicks.'”
Mills goes on to say that if his demands weren’t granted within seven days Porzingis told him,
“‘I’m going back to Europe.'”
Mills says that the Knicks had trade offers for Porzingis, 23, as early as this past September.
Well Porzingis is now gone and the Knicks turn toward the future as they have the number three overall pick in June’s NBA Draft.
For everyone involved it sounds like the Porzingis trade was best for business.
