At the young age of 15, Cori “Coco” Gauff, just became the youngest player in the Open era to get through the qualifying draw and reach the Wimbledon main draw.
Gauff, who has been called the next Serena Williams, was still in shock after earning a spot at the main draw and knows she’ll have to take her game to a different level to continue to compete against the top players.
Although she is the 12th youngest to ever play at Wimbledon, the other 11 that came before her didn’t make it past the qualifying round.
When the Wimbledon draws were announced, Gauff drew one of her idols for her first match. Five time Wimbledon champion, Venus Williams.
Gauff, who had to take a test the night before she made history, says her first memory watching tennis was Serena playing at Wimbledon and now she will be playing her sister. Could there be a more perfect first round match for Gauff?
