35-year-old Mickey Paulk, an Alabama who’s been wanted by police for drugs and weapons charges, is denying accusations by police that he’s been feeding a squirrel meth, according to the Associated Press. The squirrel has been label as an “attack squirrel.” Police think he’s been feeding it meth to stay aggressive.
Paulk said that the squirrel has been a pet to him in a video posted to Facebook. Police say that this is the same squirrel seized in a drug search in Athens, Alabama. Paulk recognizes that meth can kill squirrels and he never tried feeding this one any. He also ensures that it’s not in danger in any way.
Paulk added that a friend gave him this squirrel and named it Deeznuts. Stephen Young, a spokesman for the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office, says that deputies can’t tell for sure if the squirrel that Paulk has is the same one that was seized. As of now, he says it’s all speculation.
Paulk is still confused why police think the squirrel is on meth. At this point, you can’t be surprised by anything crazy happening in Alabama. It’s illegal there to have a pet squirrel too. Flip the page for AP news video about the squirrel.
