The wait is over, Kawhi has chosen a place to land for the 2020 season. The Claw choosing to go to L.A. was expected by many, but going to L.A. to be a Clipper was a big shocker for the basketball world. With LeBron trying to assemble the Monstars in real life, many thought that would be the way to go for a sure shot at the title. But Danny Green says that was a no-brainer for Kawhi.
He made the people wait weeks, building the suspense. Later we found out he was making quiet power moves, recruiting Paul George and he made an effort to get Kevin Durant to no avail. The Claw managed to avoid the super team stigma and decided to build a legacy all his own. Danny Green says that’s what he expected, “Not as much of a shock Kawhi going to L.A. The Clippers, anyway. I didn’t see him coming to this route[to the Lakers]. I feel like he wanted to go his own route. I think it was between them and going back. I think the year that he had and what the fans brought this season and everything, it was hard for him to turn it down and leave Toronto. But I knew he wanted to be close to home.” – Green
