In today’s fight news we’ll feature two of the more out of focus fight stars of the last 20 years. “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” Tito Ortiz, long removed from the UFC – almost 7 years exactly (last fight was at UFC 148 – July 7, 2012). One of the pioneers of mainstream MMA, walking down the ramp with his flame filled shorts and evil scowl was the first real face of the UFC. Ortiz has fought sparingly over the last few years, with a record of 4-1 spanning back to May of 2014 keeping in mind that he hasn’t been facing the highest level of competition but still all very well accomplished fighters.
Today it was announced that Tito will be taking on ex-WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio in an event for the Combate Americas MMA Promotion. The bout will take place at a 210-pound catchweight.
Del Rio’s accomplishments inside the ring also are nothing to be scoffed at, aside from the danger is just not “as real as it gets”. Del Rio can proudly wear the following accomplishments – WWE Champion, World Heavyweight Champion, United States Champion, Royal Rumble Winner and Money in the Bank Winner both of which coming in 2011. Del Rio is also well known for strained negotiations with the WWE, as well as a rather famous relationship with former WWE Diva Paige.
The event doesn’t have a date or venue as of yet, but it will be a must-see match for people who were really into UFC and WWE 10 years ago.
