Dion Waiters is looking to make a big comeback next season.
The Miami Heat guard only played in 44 games last season as he made his return from ankle surgery.
Waiters missed the entire 2018 calendar year of basketball due to the ankle injury.
The former Syracuse star took to Instagram to reveal that he battled more than just his ankle injury as he made his return to the NBA.
Waiters says he battled with depression due to social media body shaming him after he had picked up weight due to his ankle injury.
His motivation for his return and weight loss, in part, stems from the ribbing he received on social media and his season ending injury from 2018.
Waiters appears ready to prove doubters wrong and live up to the four-year, $52 million deal he signed in July 2017.
His message to those doubters is,
“Stay positive, block out the outside noise, & grind.”
