2Pac and Madonna dated a few years before he was shot and killed in Las Vegas in September 1996. While in jail in January of 1995, he penned a lengthy breakup letter to her. He mentioned how racism makes it hard for black man like himself to be affectionate with an older white woman. He also discussed that her being with a black man could make her career more exciting though.
Pac went on to say that he wasn’t feeling how Madonna said in an interview that she was “off to rehabilitate all the rappers and basketball players.” Pac had figured that he was the only rapper she’d been with. Pac detailed how he’s grown spiritually and mentally and that he still remembered the good times that they shared. Pac went on to offer to still be friends and for her to visit him in prison.
According to TMZ, this breakup letter is now being auctioned off by Gotta Have Rock & Roll starting at $100,000. The winner is expected to take it home for $300k. Darlene Lutz is an art consultant and old friend of Madonna’s and was sued by her for helping it getting auctioned off but the lawsuit was dismissed. Madonna signed a release in 2004 and wasn’t allowed to sue. She filed a appeal but it didn’t go in her favor.
The auction will start on July 17 with proceeds going to Breastcancer.org. Flip the pages for the full letter by 2Pac to Madonna.
