The Knicks might be the worst ran franchise in sports. After Kevin Durant announced that he was signing with the Nets, the Knicks let it be known that they never planned to offer him a max contract. Now, in a report from the New York Post, it comes out that the Knicks backed out of their meeting with Kawhi.
Kawhi reportedly agreed to a meeting with the Knicks but was going to make them wait until Wednesday after he met with the Lakers and Clippers. The Knicks felt like they were a long shot and didn’t want to wait because they figured the free agents they did eventually sign would be off the market before the Kawhi meeting.
This is a pretty logical reason, however the players the Knicks did eventually sign are Julius Randle, Bobby Portis, Wayne Ellington, Reggie Bullock, and Taj Gibson. Those aren’t bad players at all but if it’s between waiting for a chance at getting Kawhi and missing out on the guys they signed, the answer should always be waiting for Kawhi.
