Josh Allen lost two of his starting receivers this off-season in Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis, so the Bills’ window of opportunity is not closing. Buffalo still needed an experienced face, and they got one in Marquez Valdes Scantling on a one-year contract, despite adding a couple new wideouts through free agency and the NFL draft.
But Josh Allen had to take on the role of unofficial general manager for the Bills in order to convince the former wide receiver for the Chiefs to join him in Buffalo. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that the star quarterback invited Valdes Scantling over for dinner on Monday.
Part of the back-story with Marquez Valdes-Scantling signing with Buffalo: Josh Allen had him over to his house for dinner Monday night as part of the receiver’s free agent visit. The two hit it off, and MVS decided that night he wanted to be a Bill. https://t.co/FI95Y1EeW8

Can Josh Allen inspire his team?
Allen’s new weapon for the coming season will be Valdes Scantling, who signs a one-year, $4.5 million contract. Even though MVS left Kansas City with two rings, particularly at the beginning of the 2023 season, his performances drew harsh criticism.
He failed to hang on to several key passes, most notably a score against the Eagles that sealed the victory. Though he made amends towards the conclusion of the season by making clutch catches in the postseason, his stats didn’t make him a highly sought-after wide receiver.

Only 1000 yards and three touchdowns were gained by Scantling in his two seasons with the Chiefs. The great wide receiver produced more in the postseason, hauling in 250 yards on just 15 grabs and scoring three touchdowns.
Given his stature and ability to get open, he may be a big danger on the long ball if he can overcome his shortcomings and the Bills can get him more receptions.
Fans aren’t persuaded that MVS would be a fantastic addition to the squad, though. They believed that signing with the Bills was his only choice, and Allen didn’t have to work too hard to get him signed.
