Following his hostile testimony in the Duane “Keefe D” Davis murder trial, trial witness James “Mob James” McDonald was criticized by former Death Row Records boss Suge Knight from prison. Knight claimed that McDonald was resentful and called him an informant, denying that he had ever served as his head of security or an official employee.
According to Knight, McDonald never held a formal position at Death Row Records, and actual employees wore official rings or chains. McDonald was resentful because Tupac Shakur had “put him in his pockets” in the past.
Knight claimed that McDonald was seen as an informant on the streets, casting doubt on the veracity of his testimony in court.
On the second day of Duane “Keefe D” Davis’ trial, McDonald testified under court order, cautioning lawyers not to consider him as a hostile witness.
A hostile McDonald resisted defense interrogation during cross-examination, saying the court he did not want to assist in Davis’ imprisonment.
