The Reason Behind Nikola Jokic’s Benching : Game 6’s “Death Stare” by 3-Time MVP Explained

Due to an embarrassing Game 6 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, Nikola Jokic gained unparalleled attention. Even though the three-time MVP was benched for a large chunk of the game, his antics stole the show. Though fans conjured up some extremely intriguing theories as to why the Serb did what he did, it turned out that the true motivation was fairly unremarkable.

During the post-match press conference, he described his post-game exercise regimen as the main motivation behind his actions. He said,

“[I stood the entire fourth quarter] just to be warm so I can lift after [the game]”.

The star player for the Denver Nuggets may wish to downplay his thinking, but he did have a rather serious look on his face the whole fourth quarter.

Because of this, many people thought that the Serb was planning his retaliation in advance of Game 7 and giving the game a death glare. And this is not at all unbelievable, considering how competitive he has already demonstrated himself to be.

Anthony Edwards and friends will have to exercise caution if this turns out to be true. Even with Minnesota’s success thus far, a driven Nikola Jokic is unstoppable. Rather, the Wolves will attempt to win the game by slowing down the center just enough, as it truly might go either way.

The dangers that each side poses to the other are now clearly understood by both.
