On the same day Donald Trump called Baltimore a “filthy place” Gervonta “Tank” Davis was putting the city on his back defending his WBA super featherweight title in front of numerous friends, family and fans. Davis fought the top contender Ricardo Nunez in the first title bout in Baltimore since 1970. Davis entered the ring with rap artist Lil Baby to the song “Like Yeah” wearing black and orange robe and trunks, evoking the colors of the hometown Baltimore Orioles.
With a number of celebrity’s ringside including former Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed, former lightweight champion Vincent Pettway and of course TMT staples Adrien Broner, Leonard Ellerbe, and Floyd Mayweather.
The hometown hero did not disappoint with a TKO of Davis in the second round retaining his title. The question now is what’s next for Davis. Davis and Floyd Mayweather answered that question with Tevin Farmer. Mayweather believes Farmer vs Davis is worthy of pay per view which would be Davis first time headlined a PPV event. Will the fight happen? Will Lomachenko decide to come down to fight Davis? In the world of boxing these answers are up in the air.
