While IBF super middleweight champion Caleb Plant is no stranger to loss; on Saturday, July 20 boxing fans will see him in the place where he has never lost: the ring. Nashville native Caleb Plant, who is 18-0, with 10 knockouts, will defend his title against Mike Lee, on the Fox-televised, pre-pay-per-view portion of the Pacquiao-Thurman card.
Mike Lee is a 6’0 orthodox fighter, with a record of 21-0 with 11 knockouts.
At 32 years old, Lee is looking to win a match that will establish him as a standout fighter. While Lee is undefeated with a solid knockout ratio, his resume is missing a notable win versus a viable opponent. Saturday’s fight will be Lee’s first shot at a title.
Plant, also undefeated, has the height advantage at 6’1. Both fighters have an identical 74” reach. Lee will be moving down from 175 to fight the smaller Plant at 168.
This will be Lee’s super middleweight debut after fighting at the light heavyweight division throughout his career.
Plant won the title in January 2019, when he defeated Jose Uzcategui, via unanimous decision, after dominating the hard-hitting champion for 12 rounds, and knocking him down twice, in the 2nd and 4th rounds.
But even more impressive than his speed and power, was his defense.
The fight will air on July 20, on Fox beginning at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time and will lead into the Thurman/Pacquiao fight.
If you think you have Mike Lee before, but can’t place it, it was probably from his various appearances in Subway TV commercials.
