The boxing community tragically lost 28-year-old Maxim Dadashev as a result of brain injuries suffered in his loss to Subriel Matias on July 19 in Oxon Hill, MD. Dadashev suffered bleeding in his brain as he fell in the 11th round.
Dadashev’s wife, Elizaveta Apushkina took to Instagram today on his page to reveal more information about the severity of his injuries. She said that a doctor explained how in the 11th round, he suffered a stroke and and that affected his ability to stay focused. Heading into this fight, he was undefeated at 13-0.
Despite the stroke, he decided to continue and show the warrior that he truly was. When the fight ended, Dadashev couldn’t make it back to his dressing room as he collapsed and vomited. He was diagnosed with subdural hematoma and underwent emergency surgery. He soon went into an induced coma and passed away on July 23.
