It’s a tale as old as time. Dude sends a risky late-night text message, hits nothing but net, only to fall asleep at the worst time possible – except this time it didn’t just end as a story of missed opportunity. A New Jersey man recently woke up to find his home engulfed in flames. This after a “friend of his” made a late-night trek across town to visit for some late-night adult activities, only to be left stranded at his front door as the man had fallen fully asleep before she arrived.
The late-night rendezvous was escalated by Tajia M. Russell after she tried calling the victim 8 teams as well as an abundance of threatening messages to wake him from his slumber which all, unfortunately, fell on deaf/asleep ears.
Once she realized her messages weren’t being answered and that she’d traveled all that way for none of the expected benefits, she decided to visit a local gas station to grab some lighter fluid, matches and a lighter to exact her what I’d say is dramatic revenge.
Fortunately, the victim and his dog were able to escape the house through a window before he was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for smoke inhalation as well as first and second-degree burns, both, however, are expected to make a full recovery.
The man told police he’d invited Russell to his home “and stated that she was a ‘side chick’ whom he had been having a sexual relationship with,” it adds.
Video surveillance showed the woman outside the man’s house “just prior to the fire” and making a purchase at a Conoco station on Mantua Pike, police said.
Ms. Russell has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated arson, all this could’ve been avoided if the simple rules were followed: if you don’t think sending that late night text is a good idea, you’re probably right. Just go to bed.
