Did you all like the Keisha and ‘Riq showdown? After he tells Keisha his dad pulled a gun on him. “Good. Somebody should’ve whupped your little ass a long time ago. Pretending to be something you not.” ‘Riq responds, “Like you with that piece?” Nice clapback from the kid.
It has Keisha thinking. She’s not really about this life as we all know and to her credit she tells Tommy numerous times. She wants a house in the suburbs away from all of this violence and drama. She wants to live happily ever after with Tommy, Cash, and a dog out in Westchester or Jersey. How many of you thought Tommy was going to murk her when they pulled up to that house?
Meanwhile ‘Riq and Tommy have their rooftop meet. Tommy knows ‘Riq stole the drugs and lied to him about it. He actually gives ‘Riq a good lesson. “That’s the game. If you ain’t pushing, you fallin.’”
‘Riq is on a quest to be, as Tasha says, “better than Ghost ever was.” You see it, in the way he manipulates and lies to everyone, just like Ghost. He uses partial truths to get his desired result. Telling his mother, she and Kanan were the only ones that had her back appeals to her maternal instincts. No matter how much of an asshole he is, ‘Riq is still her son and she loves him. He knows she has grieved over one child already and won’t lose him. She’s going to teach him the game. Oh man, I think I’ve convinced myself this will be one of the spinoffs…
The timing couldn’t be better for ‘Riq, who begrudgingly is the winner of this week’s episode. His dad and Tommy need to work together to kill Jason, who will kill either one of them if the other winds up dead. Did you get all that?
There’s still Dre lurking about, but what if ‘Riq becomes the new distro? Yes, he’s a kid and that sounds crazy. But this show is already off the rails.
Just a few extra thoughts:
- We had some funny lines this week. Ramona to Derek “God is not going to help him win this primary. I am.”
- Speaking of Derek, how about him catching his wife and Tate doing the deed? Man he was pissed. LOL. But it looks like it will work out well for all parties involved.
- Poor Ramona. She just wants Ghost’s magic stick, sorry Rashad. Is it ever going to happen for ol’ girl?
- ‘Riq to Ghost with Ghost holding a gun on him. “You’re not gonna shoot me. So stop this Scared Straight bullshit now.”
- Tasha is really all in on this ‘Riq as the new Ghost thing. She knows her son “so well.” She knew he was lying about the ransom the whole time huh? But she believes him when she said all she wanted to do was say “bye to Tommy.” That’s some bullshit. LOL. I am curious to see how she balances his street education with his legit work. Oh yeah he’s done all that work already because Choate was a better school. LOL. Right, because he was going to class while running a drug ring.
- Speaking of Tasha, what’s up with her little drug enterprise through the strip club?
- How’d Tommy get that house so fast? He show up and offer all cash?
- We give Keisha a hard time, rightfully so. But she did pull the trigger when she had to…
- We didn’t spend time on it up top, but lights out for Saxe. All his shady dealings caught up with him and now he’s on administrative leave. LOL. All because Blanca Rodriguez realized a recording device was hidden in the unicorn keychain on Elisa Marie’s bag. She figured that all out based on Elisa Marie’s reaction to not seeing the unicorn on her backpack. How is it she’s only an NYPD sergeant with all that clairvoyance? LOL
- What is up with Dre? He killed poor Grimace, so he’s what a free agent? Feds aren’t looking for him anymore now that he’s got his daughter back. So, he’s going to do what now?
