Bradley Beal has signed a 2-yr, $72 million maximum contract with the Washington Wizards.
This according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Beal’s extension will begin with the 2021-22 season, and include a player option for 2022-23.
Beal’s extension will keep him out of free agency for three more seasons and guarantee him nearly $130 million over four years.
In 2022 Beal is eligible to sign a 5-yr contract worth $266 million, if he opts out of his player option, the contract would be the largest in NBA history.
Beal, 26, is one of the NBA’s best sharpshooters, and would have been a significant and sought after shooting guard had he hit the market.
Last season Beal averaged a career high 25.6 points per game.
