The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Golden State Warriors last night 120-94. Its notable that both teams as constructed are missing keys pieces.
The Warriors have been playing without Klay Thompson since the NBA finals last season, and former MVP Steph Curry who broke his hand several weeks ago.
The Lakers were missing Anthony Davis who was resting a reported rib injury, and shoulder injury. The shoulder injury occurred during the preseason, in which the staff has been keeping a close eye monitoring Anthony Davis game in, game out.
After the game Lebron was asked by reporters,
“Was it weird to play a lopsided game against the Warriors”
Lebron responded to the comments stating,
” it weirder to watch on TV, not in the actual game; I played them in the finals without Kyrie and Kevin. So no”
Lebron is aluding to the 2015 NBA finals matchup against the Golden State Warriors. The Cav’s lost the finals 4-2, but nevertheless the Cav’s were a depleted team. Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving were both nursing injuries, which some say had a astronomical affect on the finals. You could easily make an argument if Lebron had indeed had a healthy roster during this finals matchup, he would have certainly won another NBA championship.
Moreover, the following year, Lebron with a healthy Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love defeated the Warriors 4-3 in the 2016 NBA finals.
Yes players are going to continue to take jabs at the Warriors being down and out this season due to the fact the Warriors have arguably held the NBA at its own jurisdiction the last 5 years; representing the Western Conference during the NBA finals since 2015.
