Apparently the Chinese Government is still fuming over the now infamous Daryl Morey tweet urging people to stand with Hong Kong in their protests against the Chinese government in their conflict with Hong Kong.
The NBA and various players have taken a significant financial hit due to China pulling out of a lot of its prearranged deals to broadcast and host NBA games in China, which is a very large market for the NBA.
Despite the season being in full swing near the final stretch after the All-Star break, China is letting the Houston Rockets and the NBA know just how strongly they feel about the whole ordeal. For their bold message they used non-other than Houston Rockets star James Harden while broadcasting the NBA All-Star game in China, Harden’s team logo was intentionally left off of his photo, a clear jab at the Rockets organization.
The beef between China, the NBA and the Houston Rockets who employ Daryl Morey, shows no signs of ending anytime soon, we can expect to see more petty moves by the Chinese to attack the NBA’s bottom line and in this case team identity.
