In 2011, there were a lot of uncertainty amongst teams and players alike questioning whether or not there would even be a season at all. Because of this, everyone involved started to seek new ways to compensate for inevitable revenue losses. Even someone as financially successful as Lebron James was able to develop a “plan b”.
James revealed in an episode of the Uninterrupted podcast that during that season he began to train for the possibility of suiting up for a previous love of his: football.
Apparently things got so serious that Jerry Jones actually offered him a contract and LeBron had started football training. Of course, none of that ever came to fruition as the lockout was eventually uplifted and the NFL didn’t miss and regular season or playoff games. It certainly would’ve been something seeing the 6’9 phenom suit up for America’s team. Of course, Lebron was a standout season in his sophomore season at St. Vincent/St Mary High School in Akron Ohio.
Unfortunately, this is one of those “what if Jordan didn’t retire the 1st time type questions that shall keep our minds tantalizing with the idea of retroactively changing the course of history.
