Video: “True To The Game 3” Coming Soon After Erica Peeples Speaks With BSO; Why This Rising Black Actress Is Worthy Of An Oscar?

Without Black women, where would Hollywood be if they didn’t cast talent such as the late Diahann Carroll? Carroll was the focal point in the 1950s’ followed by the bad a** Pam Grier who shifted the 1970s’ for women in Black film known as the “Blaxploitation” era.

One woman who possess both traits of those two legendary actresses is the beautiful and classy Erica Peeples. She can be tough as nails and sweet as honey when she comes at you. Peeples is a Mount Clemens, Michigan native and has love for Detroit due to her connections and family.

In the voice of Detroit natives, “What up doe Erica?”

Peeples is the sensational actress that Hollywood should give their roses to because she’s established herself in such a way the world will soon take notice. Films such as “Fall Girls” which aired on BET, “True To The Game” and “True To The Game 2: Gena’s Story” are ahead of its time. With Peeples rise to stardom, she spoke with BSO about her character Gena in “True To The Game 3” and how she was deceived by the character and devil himself Jerrell.

“Well see that’s the thing I think…there was something familiar about Jerrell because Gena was still mourning Quadir. She was kind of blinded by the thing you could kind of see her intuitively picking up on. You know if you remember the scene on the boat she’s kind of questioning some of the things that he’s saying but she lets it go. She’s like this is nice. What made her (Gena) fall in love with Quadir is the fact he courted her. So Jerrell, who’s smart…he’s taking her out on a date, he’s treating her like a woman and that reminds her of what made her fall in love with Quadir.”

Jerrell is played by the great actor Andra Fuller. Fuller is an amazing man but his character is Judas in the flesh.

Peeples was the first Black woman from Mount Clemens to get accepted into Juilliard. She later moved to Los Angeles where her career was one hell of a ride. Her career originally took off when she was 18-years-old as she mentioned the trials that stood in her way of success.

“A lot of people don’t know is that this has been a journey for me for years. You know I started acting when I was 6-years-old. I went to Juilliard for acting…and I have been in LA auditioning, auditioning I got told no so many times for over nine years. I had to work five to six jobs at one point..and this is you know it’s the trajectory of where I’m trying to go and what I want to do. It means so much to me and I’m so passionate about acting, I love it with all my heart and I’m appreciative of people like you who get to see my work and appreciate my work.”
