Markita “KiKi” McIntyre Dies After Complications From Tummy Tuck In Mexico

There have been countless tragic stories involving women going to foreign countries as close as Mexico and as far as Turkey to receive medical and plastic surgery. Another surgery gone wrong is making headlines as friends and family of Markita “KiKi” McIntyre of Biloxi confirmed that she died on May 6 in Tijuana, Mexico while getting a weight loss procedure.

The 34-year-old makeup artist had gastric sleeve surgery, which removed a part of the stomach and takes the other remaining portions to make a banana-sized stomach.

One of Markita’s friend Francesca Moultrie told WLOX that she’s shocked and was in touch with Markita throughout the entire process.

I talked to my friend throughout the entire process,” said Moultrie. “We talked every day, and she was asking questions every day in the group, so she was very knowledgeable.” She said she spoke to her hours before the surgery.“I asked her how she was doing and she said she was ok,” said Moultrie. “I had posted something on Facebook and she laughed at it. I was going to talk to her after surgery around 2 or 3 p.m.”

However, Moultrie said she never received a call until 5 p.m. where she received the bad news that her friend was unresponsive and had passed away from her husband.

“It was very devastating,” said Moultrie. “I just want to be a voice for these women about surgeries. Y’all are getting these surgeries and they are not healthy, and they’re not good for your body. Don’t do it. It was a wake-up call.”
