It sounds like Clardy might have just at the wrong place at the wrong time.
By all accounts, he was an outstanding young man who was a standout athlete and student.
The question people want to know is this. Was he the target or his passenger?
The 18-year-old Clardy — a standout quarterback and student at Pine Forest High School — was shot and killed early Thursday morning while driving at Hollywood Ave. and Fairfield Dr. in Escambia County. A 19-year-old passenger in the 2004 black Honda was also shot as Sheriff Simmons says someone fired over 50 rounds into the vehicle, which crashed into a ravine.
“We’re trying to find as many witnesses and video surveillances as we can,” Sheriff Simmons said in a press conference Thursday afternoon. “Enough is enough. We cannot just sit here and say, ‘Oh this is just another senseless act of violence.’ So we need your help. We want to know what you know. There’s enough people around this town that know what happened. …We do have some leads.”
Clardy graduated from Pine Forest HS in 2020 with a 3.8 GPA. He then joined the Kennesaw State University football team in Georgia.
Clardy had only been home for a few hours before being shot.
The passenger is in critical condition. If you know anything there is a $5k reward.
