Rachel Nichols was the talk of a lot of social media discussions over the weekend.
The NBA Finals start tomorrow so it makes sense but it wasn’t really for something basketball-related. A leaked recording of Nichols talking with LeBron James spokesperson, Adam Mendelsohn, where the two talked about how ESPN wanting to take her off as the host for the NBA Finals coverage and replace her with Maria Taylor.
Nichols wasn’t happy about being replaced and while commenting, it sounded like she insinuated that the only reason Maria got the job was because she’s Black.
Social media saw the story and obviously started ridiculing Nichols. The only problem is, a lot of people went after the wrong Rachel Nichols on Twitter.
The Rachel Nichols lots of people were going after is also verified and she has over 69k followers so it kind of looks like it could be ESPN Nichols but all it would have taken to make sure it was the right one is 1 minute.
The non ESPN Nichols spent most of her day telling people that she wasn’t the Rachel Nichols that people were thinking of and even changed her name to “Not ESPN Reporter” on Twitter.
