The initial story went something like this.
Jermall Charlo hit the club with his entourage the day before his brother Jermell’s fight in San Antonio (that fight ended in a disputed draw, by the way, with most people thinking Brian Castano actually won).
Charlo tried to pay with his debit card when the bill came, but it was declined not once but three times.
At this point, according to the police report, Charlo got upset threatened to beat up everybody in the club before taking two bill collection binders from the waitress and stealing everything from the inside of them.
Eventually, the cops were called, and Charlo was arrested.
The waitress claims she suffered a leg injury during all the commotion.
Charlo’s attorney, Kent A. Schaffer, though tells a TOTALLY different story to TMZ Sports.
“When they ran [Charlo’s] card, it was declined, and he then received a fraud alert from Chase Bank asking if he had made the charge.”
“He responded yes, and they told him to have the charge submitted again. The waitress went to rerun it and came back saying she could not find the card. Jermall was upset that his card was missing since it was a debit card tied to an account with a substantial amount of money.”
Schaffer continued, “The waitress had his license sticking out of a portfolio, and he took his license back, saying that he didn’t want her to lose that too.”
“By this time, many club employees were gathering in the hallway, so Jermall’s handlers wanted to get him out of the club before trouble started, and a club employee walked Jermall out to his car.”
The truth, I imagine, is somewhere in the middle.
According to Mr. Schaffer, the cops just wanted a big name to arrest even though the club owner didn’t want to press any charges.
