Sha’Carri Richardson is definitely taking her ninth-place finish in the women’s 100-meter race at the Prefontaine Classic last week hard. She “liked” a tweet where someone said that Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce looks like Lil Wayne, and now, she has smoke for everyone else, too.
On Wednesday, Sha’Carri subliminally dissed Allyson Felix, one of the greatest US track athletes ever. Felix showed Sha’Carri love in a recent interview with Jimmy Kimmel. She explained how Sha’Carri is going through things, such as losing her mom, and that people need to rally around her.
“She’s obviously been through so much,” Felix said I hope that people rally around her. Obviously she has a great personality and she’s brought a lot of attention to the sport. I think she’ll be in the sport for a very long time. I think more than anything, for all athletes, there’s so much that goes into it — we just, you know, give her the support that she needs.”
For some odd reason, Sha’Carri took this personally. Her IG story consisted of a selfie, with the caption, “Encouraging words on tv are just as real as well nothing at all.” People were confused about why Sha’Carri would come after someone showing love like this, especially from a legend like Felix.
In addition to this Felix situation, she also dissed Jamaicans by “liking” another tweet. A user said, “Not y’all Jamaicans still talking shit when y’all gotta walk barefoot to your coconut stand every day for a living.”
Hopefully, Sha’Carri does end up getting a PR team to help her. She definitely needs it. She’s only 21, but it seems like she has no problem embracing a villain role.
