No one really knows why Ben Simmons is so upset.
We had had multiple reports stating that when the Sixers asked Simmons specifically why he wanted to be traded, he never gave them a direct answer. It isn’t an unreasonable request to want your star point guard to take wild open shots and work on his game. We have seen from the many summer workout videos that Simmons is capable of making an outside shot if he just attempts to but doesn’t want to do it.
That is what is confusing Charles Barkley.
On Inside the NBA, he ponders why Simmons is mad people want him to get better.
It’s a joke, it’s stupid and silly. First of all, it’s everybody’s fault. Ben Simmons deserves number one to blame because when people ask you to be a better basketball player, and they’re paying you $35-40 million, that’s a very fair thing.
The number one blame goes with Ben Simmons. Kenny, Shaq, your coach, your mom, and your dad, you should want to be a better basketball player because that’s your profession, that’s your job, your coach is important. Your mom and dad’s important, but I wanted to be a great basketball player for myself first and foremost.
The Sixers have coddled Simmons his entire career, and now it is biting them in the back because he is acting like a spoiled brat. Shaq points out that while Simmons is getting elite superstar money, he is just a good player, not a great one, because he doesn’t want to push himself to the next level like all of the greats in the past have.
Ben Simmons forgave Kendall Jenner six times for cheating, but won't forgive the Sixers, Doc Rivers and Embiid?
Make it make sense?
How it is cool for Simmons to want a trade, but don't be disrespectful to the Sixers staffers and security…

At some point, this is going to come to a breaking point. We will just see who breaks first.
