Love him or hate him, Keyshawn Johnson is going to tell you how he feels and will be extremely blunt about it. For years, Johnson felt Jon Gruden didn’t deserve a lot of the superlatives that were handed down to him.
After Gruden had 100s of emails leaked that were racist and homophobic in nature, Keyshawn doubled down on that by saying he always thought Gruden was a fraud and used car salesman.
It has long been speculated that Gruden would have never won anything if not being handed a Super Bowl ready team that Tony Dungy and Rich McCay built in Tampa. While he should get some credit for getting them over the top, they faltered severely once he completely controlled the team.
His latest stint with the Raiders has included a losing record and no postseason appearances.
Good coaches don’t always win Super Bowls, but they usually have consistently good records and get their teams to the playoffs.
Gruden hasn’t been able to do either.
Is Gruden a good coach, or like Keyshawn said, was he just a good used car salesman and the entire NFL brought into his scam.
The best thing that happened to the Raiders was him resigning, so they don’t have to keep paying him a ridiculous amount of money just to be average year and year out.
Hopefully, they hire someone like Eric Beienmey or Byron Leftwich to lead them going forward. Whoever they hire, they will need someone with strong moral fiber, so they don’t bring the circus to Vegas.
The Raiders have some talent and potentially could be a playoff team this year. We will have to see how they respond to Gruden getting canned.
If their performance against the Bears is any indication, it could be a LONG rest of the season.
