There was a good chance that Ruggs III would have his bond revoked for missing an alcohol test while on home confinement.
The Judge ordered Ruggs III to court to explain what happened and why he shouldn’t throw him in jail.
Ruggs III should consider himself lucky the Judge showed him some leniency in his new ruling.
Ruggs was not ordered to go back to jail over the missed test, but the judge ruled he will now have to undergo 24/7 alcohol monitoring.
The judge ordered Ruggs to wear an ankle device that will measure the levels of alcohol in his system through his skin. The NFL player had previously been testing his alcohol levels via a handheld device.
Ruggs did not speak with media members as he left the courtroom. He’s due back next in court for another hearing in his DUI case in December.
Ruggs III seems to be fully recovered from whatever injuries he suffered in the fatal accident that killed Tina Tintor and her dog Max. In his first court appearance, Ruggs III was in a wheelchair. In this court appearance, he was walking unassisted in and out of the courtroom.
Ruggs III likely on the advice of his lawyers, hasn’t spoken to the media, but it is clear their defense will be to blame the firefighters.
Lawyers for Henry Ruggs III claim firefighters waited 20 minutes to extinguish a fire that was sparked after the ex-Las Vegas Raiders player crashed his car into another, killing its driver and her dog.
Court documents obtained by the I-Team include the claim from Ruggs’ attorneys, David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld, as well as their request for documents regarding the firefighters’ response.
Ruggs is facing charges of DUI resulting in death and reckless driving resulting in death in connection with a deadly crash on Nov. 2. Court documents revealed Ruggs had a blood-alcohol level twice the legal limit and was speeding at 156 mph seconds before the crash.
Ruggs III is due back in court in December.
