While Scottie Pippen spent the majority of his book talking about Michael Jordan in an unhealthy and obsessive way, he did find some time to take some shots are other players as well.
Most of them are far retired, but one player who is active and in his prime right now is James Harden.
Pippen has long been a critic of Harden, and he held nothing back while talking about him in his book via Sportscasting.com.
Harden has a tendency to dribble the life out of the ball when he’s on offense, and Pippen hates watching it. There are several times the Beard will dribble for all 24 seconds of the shot clock. He did it a lot when he played for the Houston Rockets, and Pippen couldn’t stand it.
“Sometimes, when I watched Harden play for the Houston Rockets, bouncing the ball up and down, I felt as if my life were passing me by,” Pippen wrote. “I wanted to shout at the TV, ‘For God’s sake, James, stop dribbling!’”
We have to be honest, Pippen isn’t the only one who thinks this about Harden.
It wasn’t a very beautiful brand of basketball to watch when the Beard was with the Rockets. He has been adjusting his game more with the NETS, but it is a work in progress.
Pippen thinks the Nets would have a better shot at winning the title if Harden ever came into camp in shape.
Pippen told Frank Isola on Sirus XM Radio that the Nets can win a championship without Kyrie Irving if Harden gets into shape. The Hall of Famer is impressed by how dominant Kevin Durant has been.
“Not if James Harden gets in shape,” Pippen said when asked if the Nets need Irving. “I’m not going to say that they can win without him. He definitely is a guy that can help them. But Kevin Durant right now is an unstoppable player, and we started to see this last year in the playoffs. If he continues on this kind of role and starts to utilize his team a little bit better, I think they can possibly win without him.”
