On Wednesday, Tristan Thompson has had enough of the Sacramento Kings after a 107-97 loss to the Timberwolves.
Thompson won an NBA championship in 2016 with the Cleveland Cavaliers and has a 1-3 NBA Finals record vs. the Golden State Warriors.
In the aftermath, Thompson spoke with media members to address the condition of the Kings who haven’t been relevant since the Chris Webber days.
“Like we’ve been preaching since training camp, your offense can’t determine your defense,” Thompson told media members. “We gotta understand that if we’re trying to get somewhere this team hasn’t been in over a decade or damn near two decades, it’s the little things that are going to put you in a position to be there. It doesn’t guarantee you it, nothing is guaranteed in life, but it puts you in position.”
“No man in this world should rely on another man to inspire them,” Thomspon said. “No one should ever need a coach to inspire you. If you don’t get inspired in a game then you shouldn’t be on the court. Losing teams, losing players, you need to get inspiration from your coach. I’m not with that s–t. My teammates better not be with it.
“It’s not about Coach Walton inspiring you. This is not no freaking ‘Glory Road’ s–t. You better be ready to play. Your number’s called in a damn game, I don’t need no f–king coach to inspire me. Never that. Never have. Never will. The day I need a coach to inspire me is the day I’m f–king retiring. I’m a go play with my kids at the park.”
The Sacramento Kings are currently 6-9 as the No. 11 seed in the Western Conference.
It’s been 15 years since the Kings made the NBA Playoffs and from the day Tyreke Evans, Demarcus Cousins, and now De’Aaron.
