It really isn’t that often that we see high-level pro athletes with Kids who are also high-level pro athletes for whatever reason, so it’s a really cool thing when they do have kids that are stud athletes.
NBA HOF Julius Irving is one of the rare cases. He has a daughter who played tennis, and she was really good.
Her name is Alexandra Stevenson, and she reached the semis at Wimbledon back in 1999 but has since retired. Most people didn’t even know she was his daughter, and he himself didn’t even really start to know her until 2004, as told in the ESPN Outside the Lines feature.
Dr. J talks about that in his autobiography “Dr. J” and talks about how she came to be, and it’s a pretty wild story. He talks about how he met her mother and about how their daughter was conceived the one time they had sex saying.
“She becomes someone who helps me unwind if I’m feeling high-strung or stressed. I can drive over and spend a relaxing evening that might even include oral sex,”
“I can only remember one time that we actually had intercourse, and that was because she had just gotten this new orthodontia to straighten her teeth. With wire and gleaming metal bristling in her mouth, oral sex was not an option.”
“I’ve paid a terrible price for my sins and there is some justice in that. But should Alexandra have had to pay a price? What sin did she commit?”
That is probably something I would have taken to the grave. The two do seem to have formed some kind of decent relationship, though, and that is what matters.
This isn’t very pleasant to hear about your mom. These autobiographies have been off the chain lately.
