Let me just say that LaMelo Ball surely speaks to Michael Jordan often.
Having the greatest player in NBA history as an owner isn’t a bad thing. It can only be helpful.
WITH THAT BEING SAID…
LaVar Ball’s reasoning why LaMelo can’t learn anything from Michael Jordan is funny because LaVar is a character, but there is one strain of truth in what he is saying. LaVar, in a way that only LaVar could say it explains if Jordan could make players better with his advice, the Hornets wouldn’t have been trash for so many years while he was in charge.
Technically, LaVar isn’t lying, the Hornets haven’t been good, and many of the players Jordan himself had a hand in drafting have ended up being busts or journeymen.
So, is this a case again where LaVar has “NEVA LOST”?
Remember when LaVar said he could beat Jordan 1-on-1.
“Back in my heyday, I would kill Michael Jordan one-on-one,’’ said Ball, the 49-year-old basketball dad who is 6-6 and 270 pounds and has a mouth to match his size.
“I would just back (Jordan) in and lift him off the ground and call a foul every time he fouls me when I do a jump hook to the right or the left,” Ball said. “He cannot stop me one-on-one. He better make every shot ’cause he can’t go around me. He’s not fast enough. And he can only make so many shots outside before I make every bucket under the rim.”
Jordan surprisingly replied to this back in the day.
“You got to understand the source,” Jordan said, per Ryne Nelson of Slam Online. “I think he played college, maybe? He averaged 2.2 points a game. Really? It doesn’t deserve a response, but I’ma give it to you because you asked the question. I don’t think he could beat me if I was one-legged.”
People take LaVar way too seriously. It should just be seen as jokes.
